It is too little to say that Paul established a connection between the idea of love and the theology of the Cross. Agape and the theology of the Cross are for him quite simply one and the same thing. Without the Cross of Christ we should never have known God's love and learnt it's deepest meaning; and, conversely, without God's Agape Christ's way would not have led to the Cross.
